A CONTINENTAL CAVALRY SABRE BY GERMAN MAKER PUTSCH & SOHN, circa 1850, similar to the Italian M1860 but the grip, backstrap and pommel matches the Italian M1833 light cavalry sabre, with 34 3/4 in. single-edged slightly curved steel blade fullered on each side, ricasso marked 'PUTSCH & SOHN' with inspection mark over, steel guard and hilt. brass pommel button, black stained wooden grip bound with brass wire, together with its black-painted steel scabbard, worn, exposed steel pitted, losses to grip wire, 42 1/2 in. overall
